Meet Me
I was born on the 24th of March 1992, growing up was an experience and a half to say the least, I’m the middle of 3, my Mum always said I was the least problematic of her Kids, Im not too sure about that.We lived in Nairobi’s South C estate, then Woodley where we stayed for quite sometime then finally settled in Karen.
I have 2 siblings, my older brother Wambugu, we’re about 1 Year 9 months or so apart and My Little sister Natasha.
My father is one of the top structural engineers in Kenya, and My mother is one of the bosses at the helm of The Multichoice Talent Factory, she previously had already set up the Kenya Film School, and just the other day got the presidential award of Order of the Golden Heart (OGW) for her contribution to the country.
I have an undergraduate degree in law, an LLB, the plan is to have a PhD by the time I’m 40. Earlier on I did I think on year of kindergarten at Kestrel Manor then moved to Rusinga International school all the way to my A2 level, year thirteen.
I wanted to pursue a media course but my parents convinced me to do law, citing that it was a better choice.
She got scholarships from three universities abroad but her father insisted that she enrols at UoN. That was a ride and a half! I must appreciate the amazing individuals I met while at Parkie!
My Legal experience isn’t as extensive, I did my 2nd Year clinicals at Kibera Law Courts and Milimani respectively. I then worked as a paralegal for The Later Peter Simani, easily one of the best legal minds this country was honored to have. After his unfortunate passing at The Westgate terror attack and the restructuring at the firm, it is safe to say the legal mind in me took a back seat.
Almost immediately I got an opportunity to do a screentest at Ebru Africa at the time, Jesus, I was terrible, I was a nervous stuttering mess, my make up started melting, looking back it’s absolutely hilarious. After that mess they asked me to write a script, GUYS that’s what saved me, I could write pretty well.
And that was the start of my Media Career at 20. It was a whirlwind! Though I always maintain for me Radio was definitely more challenging.
I rose from an Intern to The lead prime time anchor, daily prime time, a weekly prime time bulletin, one weekday prime time slot AND a poltics and current affairs Wednesday night. I loved my job. I abruptly left the country for some years but came back and immediately took the position of Head of News at that same very Ebru Africa.
I owe 2 people my career and where I have gotten in these over 10 years I have been in media, it’s definitely My Mum who lives true to her title OGW Victoria Goro and one Nadir Kilic, they believed, they trained and never gave up on me.
I left Ebru and did a whole lot of travelling for about a year, then I slid in NRG Radios DM and started with them just under a year later. It was an EXPLOSIVE experience. I really learnt how much I could do. Just under a year later I joined the Media Giant RAG and got to live my radio dream for Years.
And now here we are, still living my dreams, just at more beaches than before, 31, Married, loving it and very happy to have you here with me on it.
Love.
